Greetings from beautiful Amsterdam, where my wife and I are enjoying a getaway while the kids are home getting spoiled by Grandpa.

This city is amazing! We’re celebrating my wife’s birthday, but the locals are celebrating big-time: It’s Koninginnedag, or Queen’s Day, a national holiday to celebrate the Netherlands’ Queen Beatrix. It was basically an all-day party, with festivals, relaxing, and everyone dressed completely in orange. It’s the tradition for Queen’s Day. Here are a few pictures from our trip.

The letters from the Easter Bunny and coloring pages at FreeEasterPrintables.com have been a hit since I first launched the site in 2009. Parents and others just love helping out the Easter Bunny with printable letters covering situations as diverse as baby’s first Easter and a child who might be questioning whether the friendly rabbit is real. (Hard to imagine, right?)

With Easter coming up April 8, I’ve already added a bunch (a basket?) of new letters as well as an entirely new category of fun: printable Easter crafts. There are several colors of Easter bunny ears to print, cut out, and wear. They’re perfect for hopping down the bunny trail. There are also egg wrappers with rabbit and farm designs. Print them out on paper or sturdy cardstock and use them for decorating eggs.

The coloring pages and crafts are free to download and print. The letters are free as PDFs, but many opt for the premium DOC version, which is $5 and can be customized in Microsoft Word, typing in a child’s name and other details. Happy Easter!

It’s been awhile since I’ve been on Tooth Fairy duty as a dad, so I’m especially grateful for the ideas sent in by users of my site, www.ToothFairyLetter.net. I’ve just added several new letters to the site, so there are now 30 to choose from in all, plus a new Tooth Fairy Poems category. And, as always, there are free coloring pages as well as tips for parents who would like to start tooth traditions or need help deciding how much to pay for those pearly whites.

Imagine my excitement when I heard that one of my printables sites was in the national spotlight! PrintablePaper.net was featured in a “freebies” segment on NBC’s Today Show on Feb. 29.

They had printed out a whole bunch of sheets of lined, graph, and music paper, plus a scoresheet to display among a bunch of other free stuff. It was part of the show’s Today’s Money feature with Elizabeth Mayhew. She even said, “This is one of my favorites.” Yay!

I’ve launched another new site (I love when that happens). It’s www.FreeWritingPrompts.net, with dozens of writing prompts to kick-start any developing writer, from elementary school to college.

I think of it as a complement to my other sites that are especially handy for teachers, homeschooling parents, and students. I hope you know about www.PrintablePaper.net, with hundreds of lined and graph printable paper and other resources. There’s also www.TeachersPrintables.net, which has more than 250 classroom printables. And at www.PrintableFlashCards.net, you can instantly create and print your own flash cards for any subject.

All of the prompts at FreeWritingPrompts.net are free — just click to download and print in neatly formatted PDF or DOC form. The prompts are conveniently organized by grade level (elementary, middle school, high school, and college) and then by the type of writing: creative, essay, descriptive, how-to, narrative, and more. Very cool!

I’m excited to announce the winners of the first-ever FreePrintable.net Valentine’s Day coloring contest! Nathan and Alisse each won a $50 gift certificate for Amazon.com.
